Rollie Fingers

 1981 MLB MVP/3x WS Champion/7x All-Star/ Hall of Fame/Cy Young Winner

Where did the name Rollie come from? We start there and then head down to CA and Rollie’s sleeping arrangements on that trip. Being there was no MLB draft in 1964, we learn how he was discovered, the offer from the Dodgers that was turned down, why it was along with the agreement to sign with the KC Athletics on Christmas Eve and what Rollie did with the money.

What was minor league baseball like in the 60’s and some big names that were his teammates. Rollie talks about opening day in 1967 that ended up with a stay in the hospital, the background on the handlebar mustache and has he ever thought about shaving it off?

How Rollie’s career was saved when he went to being a reliever and then winning not one but three World Series Titles in a row! Where is the 30 for 30 on this????

Rollie talks in depth about being sold to the Boston Red Sox in 1976 and then having the deal retuned three days later which resulted in a possible player strike. After talking about his career stops in San Diego and Milwaukee, we hear about the offer from the Cincinnati Reds that ended up with a famous quote by Rollie.

What being inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame means, how he was notified, and the emotions of making your induction speech. The show is closed out with talking about golf which Rollie loves and is good at!
